Adaptive Toy Libraries
FairPlay Adaptive Toy Libraries provide collections of switch-adapted toys to schools, clinics, hospitals, and community organizations serving children with disabilities. These toys allow children with limited motor abilities to independently engage in play. Because each library is shared within a facility, a single library can benefit hundreds of children over time.
How Libraries are Used
Adaptive Toy Libraries are frequently integrated into:
-
classrooms and special education programs
-
occupational, physical, and speech therapy sessions
-
play groups and recreational programming
-
public libraries, for family lending and home use
Program Impact
To date, we've distributed 100+ adaptive toy libraries to partner sites across the United States, Canada, and Australia, improving access to play for 4,800+ children. Partner organizations report that adaptive toys are helping children engage more actively in play, participate alongside peers, and make progress toward academic and therapeutic goals.
"Our school’s adaptive toy library has allowed us to provide every student with access to meaningful play. We no longer have to share a few outdated items between classrooms."
- Educator, Partner Site
"Since adding switch-adapted toys to our therapy sessions, engagement has skyrocketed. Children who used to be passive observers are now active participants."
- Occupational Therapist, Partner Site
