About the event
This workshop will review switch adaptation basics and walk you step-by-step through adapting a musical plush toy and a DIY cardboard switch. See our tools & supplies list below to see what you need to participate:
Supplies List:
The toy: The Hopearl brand offers a variety of light up plush-toys: here are some examples of toys you can choose from Elephant, Duck, Dinosaur, Cat, Unicorn, and Dog. Before purchasing, ensure the toy you select is a Hopearl LED Musical Stuffed Lighting Up Singing Plush Toy. Ensure you select one that is musical AND lights up (LED & music). Some only light up, so please read carefully before purchasing! If you have any questions about the toy prior to purchasing, please email emily.wolfram@fairplaylibraries.org
Other Materials/Supplies:
3.5mm mono m/f cable (We recommend purchasing this exact cable in the 3 ft length)
Needle and thread (optional for sewing back up toy/ hot glue can also be used)
Scissors
Phillips head screwdriver
3 AAA batteries
Two pieces of tinfoil / aluminum foil (~4x4 inches)
Small cardboard rectangle (~4X8 inches) (Reuse what you have! We love cereal boxes.)
Not all of the listed supplies are available outside of the United States. If you are participating outside of the U.S., please check availability prior to registering, or reach out to emily.wolfram@fairplaylibraries.org for possible alternatives.
A waiver is required to participate. Please complete your waiver by October 23rd, 5:00 PM EST.
Please reach out to the workshop instructor, Emily, with any questions: emily.wolfram@fairplaylibraries.org
This is a fundraiser-style workshop. Attending is free, though we welcome donations of any size to support FairPlay's accessible play programs. Thank you!
